AISD.TV has earned a pair of distinguished national awards from the Alliance for Community Media organization.
Austin ISD’s television station is the winner of the Hometown Media Awards Overall Excellence in Educational Access.
The award specifically recognizes national educational broadcasting entities with budgets of $300,000-$650,000. This is the third time AISD.TV has been earned this distinction.
Additionally, AISD in 3, the weekly news program in its first year of production at AISD.TV, was named the best news program among all access channel entries from throughout the country.
“I’m very proud that AISD.TV is bringing home these prestigious awards,” said Tiffany Saunders, assistant media services coordinator and manager of AISD.TV. “It’s a true testament to the talents of our staff and passion for producing entertaining, engaging and informative programming for our communities.”
The Hometown Media Awards honor and promotes community media and local cable programs that are distributed on public, educational and governmental access cable television channels.
A panel of judges evaluates the thousands of entries each year, and awards are presented to the most creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats and move viewers to experience television in a different way.
