Tonight's meeting is in the library at Ann Richards Young Women’s Leadership Academy. 

Learn how community feedback has shaped the preliminary 2018–19 budget proposal as well as an update on efforts to keep the district budget in balance despite declining revenues.

Presenters will also share next steps in the district's multi-year budget stabilization planning which include the formation of a budget stabilization task force that will meet over the summer.

The task force will evaluate actions the district could take to balance the budget over the next two to three years.

Background

Austin ISD's budget is greatly impacted by an outdated state school finance system, which has put the district in a difficult fiscal situation.

This, compounded by a slight decline in student enrollment, and inflationary pressures has led to an estimated $30 million budget shortfall for the 2018–19 school year.

This conversation series is a follow-up to the budget conversations held in February.
