Austin ISD once again took part in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record this year, a national campaign launched more than a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for all children.
On Read for the Record day—now in its 12th year—people nationwide read the same book to children as part of the world’s largest shared reading experience.
More than 2 million people participated this year; the featured book was "Quackers" by Liz Wong.
Danielle Sanders' dual language kindergarten class at Galindo Elementary School was one of the many classrooms in the district participating Oct. 19.
