Austin ISD is an integral part of emergency relief for Hurricane Harvey. We currently have evacuees in several locations and will respond to further needs for shelters as we are able.
For those concerned about the safety of loved ones affected by the storm, please visit https://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php.
The district will continue to welcome all students, including any evacuees who are in Austin for the foreseeable future. We are doing all we can to ensure all student needs are met and that there will be minimal lapses in their school year.
We're getting many calls about what the various shelters need, where to drop off donations, etc.
AISD facilities are not equipped to accept in-kind donations (water, food, clothing, toiletries, etc.) Please do not bring these items to a shelter, as it can create a logistical hazard for both evacuees and volunteers.
Central Texas Red Cross informs us that monetary donations are the most effective at this time.
