Proud parents, family and friends filled the Frank Erwin Center in celebration as Austin ISD celebrated more than 100 graduating seniors of Eastside Memorial High School. 

Superintendent Paul Cruz highlighted the school's achievements, including being the recipient of the inaugural Rather Prize for the best ideas to improve education in Texas.

Other accomplishments included the Eastside jazz band being recognized by Austin Mayor Steve Adler and the school earning three academic distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.

Parting words came from Valedictorian Alex de la Cruz: "Go out and conquer the world!"
