AISD is accepting applications for Pre-K tuition programs—including 12 dual-language programs—at 36 elementary schools. The deadline for applications to be included in the lottery is Friday, Jan. 29.
Applications are available at the campuses where the programs are offered. The district offers tuition-supported Pre-K programs at Baldwin, Blackshear, Boone, Brooke, Casis, Cowan, Davis, Galindo, Govalle, Gullet, Guerrero Thompson, Joslin, Kocurek, Maplewood, Mathews, Menchaca, Metz, Mills, Ortega, Palm, Patton, Read, Williams and Zilker elementary schools.
AISD also offers dual-language, tuition-supported programs in Spanish at Becker, Blanton, Brentwood, Casey, Cunningham, Dawson, Perez, Ridgetop, Sunset Valley, Travis Heights and Wooten elementary schools. The district offers one program in Vietnamese at Summitt Elementary School.
Children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year are eligible to enroll in the tuition-supported, Pre-K program if they do not qualify for the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities or the state-mandated Pre-K program for qualifying students (e.g. students who are homeless, who qualify for free or reduced-price meals or whose parents are active duty members of the armed forces).
Registration for the district's free Pre-K programs begins in April.
