Thousands of students and staff throughout Austin ISD gathered today to take part in Jumpstart's "Read for the Record."

The global campaign generates public support for high-quality early learning by mobilizing millions of children and adults to participate in the world's largest shared reading experience.

Each year, one children’s book is selected. This year’s book, Not Norman: A Goldfish Story, written by Kelly Bennett and illustrated by Noah Z. Jones, uses humor to teach a lesson about finding friendships in unexpected places. 

Read for the Record is one of many AISD efforts that focus on the importance of literacy.
