AISD TV, Austin ISD's public access television channel, was recently honored at the Hometown Media Awards for creativity and excellence in programming.
The HMAs promote and honor programs that creatively address community needs. HMA winners challenge conventional format, help develop diversity, encourage involvement and allow viewers to experience television in different ways.
“It’s nice to see AISD TV receive the recognition it deserves,” Media Services Coordinator Oscar Palomo said. “This award is a testament to all the hard work, time and effort this department has invested.”
AISD TV received the Overall Excellence in Education Access award and also won in the Access Center Professional Winners: News category for Season 2 Episode 6 of Inside AISD.
Inside AISD is a bimonthly television program that highlights AISD news. In this specific episode, Christian Haddad, a senior from Bowie High School, covered district news from February 2014.
Founded in 1976, the Alliance for Community Media, which presents the HMAs, represents more than 3,000 organizations and works to advance the interests of organizations using public access centers.
