Dear AISD Teachers, Principals and Staff, 

I want to make you aware of an opportunity for the Austin community to support our public schools. Save Texas Schools will be holding a statewide rally at the Capitol from 10 a.m.–noon Saturday, April 18, to support fair and equitable funding for public schools, continued reform to our testing system and community-based supports for struggling schools. 
 
These are all issues that affect our school district daily, and ones that we are appropriately addressing as a district with our legislators. A number of legislators will be present at the rally.
 
This event is on a Saturday, and there is no obligation to take part. Participation would be on your own time. We ask that you use your personal and not district email for communication with others about the event, and that you not run flyers on district copiers or use any other district resources. 
 
AISD Board of Trustees President Gina Hinojosa will be one of the speakers at the rally. The event is family friendly, and there will be Spanish translation of at least some of the speeches. More information about the rally can be found at www.savetxschools.org.

Estimados maestros, directores y personal del Austin ISD:

Quiero informales sobre la oportunidad que tendrá la comunidad de Austin para apoyar a nuestras escuelas públicas. Save Texas Schools llevará a cabo un mitin en el capitolio el sábado, 18 de abril de 10:00 a.m. a mediodía, para apoyar el financiamiento justo y equitativo de las escuelas públicas, y la reforma continua de los sistemas de pruebas y apoyos para escuelas con dificultades basados en la comunidad.

Estos son problemas que afectan a nuestro distrito escolar a diario, y los que como distrito, estamos discutiendo con nuestros legisladores. Varios legisladores asistirán al mitin.

Este evento es el sábado, y no es obligatorio participar. Puede participar por su cuenta. Pedimos que usen su correo electrónico personal, y no el del distrito, para comunicarse con otras personas respecto a este evento, y que no utilicen máquinas copiadoras o demás recursos del distrito para la divulgación de volantes.

Gina Hinojosa, Presidenta de la Mesa Directiva del Distrito Escolar de Austin será uno de los oradores en el mitin. El evento es apropiado para toda la familia y habrá traducciones en español de algunos de los discursos. Para más información sobre el mitin visite www.savetxschools.org.
