Parents are invited to join the Austin ISD Department of English Language Learners for two information sessions—9 a.m.–noon and 6:30–8:30 p.m.—Friday, Aug. 15, at the Metz Elementary School Cafeteria, 84 Robert T. Martinez Jr. St.
The event will include discussion with Virginia P. Collier, professor emerita of Bilingual/Multicultural/ESL Education at George Mason University; Wayne Thomas, emeritus professor of Evaluation & Research Models in the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University; and Mario Ferrón, a University of Texas at Brownsville doctoral graduate and the dual language coordinator for secondary schools in the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD.
Spanish interpretation services, childcare and refreshments will be provided at the evening session.
