Beginning June 23 and ending Aug. 8, Austin ISD will operate on a summer efficiency schedule to reduce energy costs. The district's average savings from the summer efficiency program is about $486,000.
All schools and offices will adopt a four-day week during this time. Business hours will be 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday–Thursday. All district and campus offices will be closed on Fridays.
The district also will be closed for one week from Monday, June 30, through Friday, July 4. All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period.
Independence Day is a holiday and employees are not scheduled to work Friday, July 4. The district will resume summer efficiency hours Monday, July 7.
AISD's regular, five-day workweek will resume Monday, Aug. 11. Classes for the 2014-14 school year will begin Monday, Aug. 25.
