Stay warm. Stay safe!
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory through 6 p.m. tomorrow, which could mean hazardous conditions and icy roads. AISD will continue to monitor the weather overnight.
However, at this time, based on the best information available to the district from meteorologists, there are no concrete projections on whether or not Austin will experience freezing temperatures and precipitation that would impact roads and bridges in the morning.
District officials will reconvene to reassess the situation at 4 a.m. tomorrow.
Should conditions change overnight and affect the district's operations and schedule, AISD will notify employees starting at 4:30 a.m. and families at 6 a.m.
For the few students who ride district buses before 6 a.m., AISD will communicate any changes to the district's schedule starting at 5 a.m.
If there are no changes that will affect AISD's operations or school schedule, the district will NOT send notifications.
Please visit the district's website for official and up-to-date information.

Inclement Weather Process for AISD
When would the district make decisions on late start, early release or school cancelations?
The district will make every effort to make decisions on late start, early release or school cancelations as early as possible to allow employees, parents and caregivers enough time to make appropriate plans.
If AISD has compelling information the day before the anticipated inclement weather, the district will make a decision before 9 p.m., if at all possible.
If AISD does not have such information by 9 p.m. the day before, the next update and decision point will be the next day by approximately 6 a.m.
How will the district communicate any changes to schedules or operations?
If the weather appears to impact regular district operations and schedules, AISD will send direct messages to employees, parents and caregivers via the district’s phone, text and email notification system as soon as the decision is made.
The district will also update the news media and provide official information through the AISD website and social media channels: Austin ISD on Twitter and Facebook.
AISD will NOT send notifications if the weather does not impact our schools. Updates will be posted online and on social media.
