AUSTIN, Texas--The Austin Independent School District released the following statement from Superintendent Meria Carstarphen after the Board of Trustees President Vincent Torres provided an overview of the superintendent's evaluation for the 2012-13 school year:
I am pleased with the board’s evaluation of my performance as superintendent. Having the trustees acknowledge the hard work and improvements made over the past year is a vote of confidence for me but especially for the staff and students who are at the heart of our district.
I am proud of the work we have done during the past four years. In short, this is AISD’s best performance under the highest, toughest accountability standards in the state’s history--with dwindling resources, while serving a growing and incredibly diverse student body. We have done this while retaining, hiring and attracting some of the best talent in the region. As a district, we continue to come together to support and help each other. Our work is working. And, as a superintendent, I couldn’t be more proud.
As the superintendent of a diverse district in a city of ideas and innovation, it is a privilege to serve the students and families of Austin with this amazing team of educators and partners.
