Overview

Austin ISD works in partnership with the State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission to provide educational services for children receiving acute care at the Austin State Hospital (ASH) in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (CAPS) Unit. ASH/CAPS is a residential treatment facility serving children from all over the state of Texas. The ASH/CAPS Day School operates as a trauma-informed restorative campus in order to meet the specialized needs of each child. AISD staff provides a variety of general and special education services to all patients during their stay at ASH/CAPS and all progress/credits are transferable to their home campus upon discharge.
