Securing Children Online through Parental Empowerment Act
On June 13, 2023, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed Texas House Bill No. 18, the Securing Children Online through Parental Empowerment Act, also known as the SCOPE Act.

It requires monitoring of online activity as well as educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including cyber-bullying awareness and response.
The Securing Children Online through Parental Empowerment Act (SCOPE) is a state law that protects students from excessive data collection or materials that are considered harmful to minors. The district considers parents as partners in cybersecurity and online safety.
