All offices and schools adopt four-day week June 23-Aug. 8; AISD closed June 30-July 4
Austin, Texas—The Austin Independent School District will adopt a summer efficiency schedule for six weeks to reduce energy costs from June 23 through Aug. 8. The district’s average savings from the summer efficiency program is about $486,000.
All schools and offices will adopt a four-day week during this time. Business hours will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The district will be closed Friday.
The district also will be closed for one week from Monday, June 30, through Friday, July 4. All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. Independence Day is a holiday and employees are not scheduled to work Friday, July 4. The district will resume summer efficiency hours Monday, July 7.
AISD’s regular, five-day workweek will resume Monday, Aug. 11.
Classes for the 2014-15 school year will begin Monday, Aug. 25.
