Austin ISD families can review health and physical education textbooks and provide feedback via a survey.
Why it matters: This is the first time in 14 years that the textbooks have been revised.
-
It’s also the first time in 24 years that the state has revised what it requires us to teach (what they call the Texas Essential Knowlege and Skills, or TEKS).
There are revised textbooks for elementary, middle and high school students, impacting almost every student in the district.
Yes, but: These textbooks won’t include content regarding human sexuality, child abuse, family and dating violence because we’re writing our own lesson plans around those important subject.
What’s next: You can come to Austin ISD’s Central Office January 13, 2022 5 -7:30 pm on the second floor to review the textbooks as well.
