More than 200 fathers showed strong support for their students last Friday during Pillow Elementary’s first-ever “Bring Your Dad to School Day.”
Fathers and their children arrived to school early Sept. 28 and were treated to coffee, juice and donuts in the school library before participating in a brief opening assembly. After the assembly, parents were invited to visit their child’s classroom for 45 minutes. The event concluded in the library where participating fathers were invited to reflect on what they learned and engage in a Q&A with Pillow Elementary Principal Tonya King.
The event was sponsored by the Texas PTA through their partnership with Strong Fathers, Strong Families. The Pillow Elementary PTA helped coordinate the event on campus.
“I want to focus on bringing more family involvement to our school,” PTA Vice President Brenda Gaudet said. “So I thought this was a perfect event for Pillow Elementary.”
