Hispanic Futures Conference - AISD Students Becoming Global Citizens

The Austin School District will partner with the City of Austin and Austin Energy to host the next Hispanic Futures event beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, at Crockett High School, 5601 Manchaca Road. The theme is " Becoming Global Citizens: Entrepreneurship, Leadership & Service."

Additionally, the following event theme, “Without Limits – Sin Limites”, will center on a bilingual College and Career fair. This will take place November 5, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Travis High School, 1211 East Oltorf Street. The conference will be hosted by Austin ISD and non-profit educational support group Con Mi MADRE. Students from all AISD schools, and their parents, are invited to attend.

Students and parents will have an opportunity to speak with representatives of colleges and universities around the country about applying for admission to and attending college. Participants will also have an opportunity to talk to professionals in a variety of career fields to gain a better understanding of the skills needed to be successful in these career fields.  
 
The purpose of Hispanic Futures Conference activities is to help students understand the steps they must take to be successful in college, career, and life.
