September 17, 2009 - The Austin School District is seeking community input in the development of a strategic plan to guide the District through 2013.
A “community conversation” will be held on Tuesday, September 22, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Travis High School Cafeteria, located at 1211 East Oltorf Street. Its purpose will be to gather input on the proposed strategic plan framework — the Mission, Vision, Values, Goals, Strategies, and Measurable Outcomes of the Strategic Plan. Participants will receive a brief overview of the planning process from district leadership, and then break out into smaller discussion groups to provide detailed input.

The proposed strategic plan framework, and other information related to the strategic planning process, are available on the AISD website, at: http://www.austinisd.org/inside/initiatives/strategic_plan/

A second community conversation will be held in October, with the exact date, time, and location to be announced. The purpose of the second community conversation will be to gather input on a complete draft of the strategic plan.

Persons interested in attending the community conversations are asked to pre-register online at the above website. In addition to the two community conversations, community members may also provide input online at the above website.

All of the community input received will be provided to the Strategic Planning Task Force, which is charged with developing the strategic plan. For additional information, individuals may contact Joey Crumley, Planning Supervisor, Office of Planning and Community Relations, at 414-9961, or jcrumley@austinisd.org.
