Community Committee on Neighborhoods and Schools

On December 4, 2006, the AISD Board of Trustees formally created a Community Committee on Neighborhoods and Schools (CCNS). As described in the Charter and Process Framework, the CCNS is charged with making recommendations to the Board on processes and policy dealing with: criteria for identifying underutilized and overcrowded schools; criteria for assessing facility use alternatives and assessment considerations; opportunities for interlocal collaboration; and procedures for identifying and ensuring ongoing stakeholder engagement and participation.

The Membership of the CCNS is diverse in stakeholder representation, including school community members, neighborhood associations, community groups, District Advisory Council and Austin Council of PTAs, City of Austin, Travis County, University of Texas, and the business community.

Dates, agendas, and summaries of Meetings will be posted on this site, along with Resource Materials, for the information of the community.

All meetings of the CCNS are open to the public and visitors are welcome. The CCNS will include on the agenda for each meeting an opportunity for Citizens Communications. Unless otherwise noted, meetings are held in Room A-230, Bldg. A, of the AISD Carruth Administration Center, located at 1111 W. 6th Street.
